| Abstract: | A linguistic analysis is made of nominal substitution, which is classified in
this paper into three categories. It is concluded that nominal substitution is in essence
a process of meaning genera-lization, and this nature helps to make nominal substitution a
mechanism of cohesion in discourse. |
