Monitoring the market or the salesperson? The value of information in a multilayer supply chain

We study a supply chain in which a manufacturer relies on a salesperson to sell the products to the consumers. The sales outcome is determined by a random market condition and the salesperson's service level, both of which are privately observed by the salesperson. Apart from them, there are two types of resellers: a knowledgeable reseller observes the market condition, whereas a diligent reseller can monitor the service level. While delegating to a reseller enhances information acquisition, it may also result in double marginalization and inefficiency. We identify several operating regimes in which double marginalization can be eliminated via simple contracts and establish the benefit of monitoring the salesperson over monitoring the market. Our dominance result is not prone to our model characteristics regarding the complementarity of market condition and sales effort, the relative importance of adverse selection and moral hazard, and the contract form. We then generalize our model and re‐establish the dominance result in the presence of reseller's risk aversion or private monitoring expertise. We also quantify the performance gaps among different selling schemes under various scenarios. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Naval Research Logistics, 2011

基于参数化直方图的三路互相交连接选择性估计

估计空间算子的选择性是设计空间查询优化器的关键技术之一。选择性估计不仅能以非常小的代价给出空间算子结果集大小的近似估计,而且也可以直接用于某些仅需要近似结果的空间查询和空间分析(如数据集间的相关性评价等)处理。互相交连接是一类常见而且具有特殊性质的多路空间连接。基于对命题"两两相交的多个矩形一定有一个公共的相交区域,而且这个区域也是矩形"的证明,提出了一种可以用于三路互相交连接选择性估计的参数化直方图方法,还通过多组比较实验证明了该方法的有效性和适应性。     

全垫升式气垫船水压场数值模拟

提出了任意分布的气垫压力所产生的水压场的计算方法 ,对椭圆域上均匀分布的气垫压力产生的水压场进行了数值模拟 ,并将计算结果与实验进行了比较 .结果表明 ,用数值模拟的方法研究全垫升式气垫船水压场是可行的     

一种打击平流层飞艇的方法研究*

平流层飞艇可作为临近空间攻防双方重要的武器平台,研究如何对其实施打击具有重要理论及现实意义。现有研究证明由于囊体内外压差极小,通过打击飞艇囊体使其升力气体泄漏从而达到打击目的的方法时效性太差,因此在建立平流层飞艇接收太阳能模型及毁伤薄膜电池模型基础上,分析了太阳能薄膜电池毁伤面积变化与飞艇作战能力之间的关系,并采用蒙特卡洛方法研究了导弹突防阶段雷达探测概率、导弹拦截概率和击中目标时导弹毁伤半径对薄膜电池相对毁伤面积的影响。仿真结果表明,将防御方雷达探测概率和导弹拦截概率控制在0.5并将导弹有效毁伤半径提高到50.0m能较好达成打击平流层飞艇的目的,3枚导弹就可使700m长飞艇在较短时间内丧失作战能力,通过毁伤飞艇太阳能电池来达到打击平流层飞艇目的的方法可行。     

Military expenditures,economic growth and spatial spillovers

The relationship between economic growth and military expenditure has been the subject of a large literature in defence economics. This study analyses the influence of military expenditures on economic growth in a global perspective for the time period 2000–2010 taking spatial dimension into account. The augmented Solow model is employed to investigate the defence-growth nexus using the cross-sectional data relating to 128 countries. Following a traditional regression analysis, spatial variations in the relationships are examined utilizing different spatial econometric specifications estimated by maximum likelihood. The regressions are compared with each other via likelihood ratio tests, and the spatial Durbin model is found to be the most appropriate one suggesting that the typical least-squares model is misspecified. Empirical evidence indicates that military expenditure has a positive effect on economic growth with a significant spatial dependence for the time period under consideration.
