Technical note: Finite-time regret analysis of Kiefer-Wolfowitz stochastic approximation algorithm and nonparametric multi-product dynamic pricing with unknown demand

We consider the problem of nonparametric multi-product dynamic pricing with unknown demand and show that the problem may be formulated as an online model-free stochastic program, which can be solved by the classical Kiefer-Wolfowitz stochastic approximation (KWSA) algorithm. We prove that the expected cumulative regret of the KWSA algorithm is bounded above by where κ₁, κ₂ are positive constants and T is the number of periods for any T = 1, 2, … . Therefore, the regret of the KWSA algorithm grows in the order of , which achieves the lower bounds known for parametric dynamic pricing problems and shows that the nonparametric problems are not necessarily more difficult to solve than the parametric ones. Numerical experiments further demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our proposed KW pricing policy by comparing with some pricing policies in the literature.     

Supply chain coordination with shelf‐space and retail price dependent demand and heterogeneous retailers

We consider supply chain coordination in which a manufacturer supplies some product to multiple heterogeneous retailers and wishes to coordinate the supply chain via wholesale price and holding cost subsidy. The retail price is either exogenous or endogenous. The market demand is described by the market share attraction model based on all retailers'shelf‐spaces and retail prices. We obtain optimal solutions for the centralized supply chain, where the optimal retail pricing is a modified version of the well‐known cost plus pricing strategy. We further get feasible contracts for the manufacturer to coordinate the hybrid and decentralized supply chains. The manufacturer can allocate the total profit free to himself and the retail market via the wholesale price when the retail price is exogenous, but otherwise he cannot. Finally, we point out that different characteristics of the retail market are due to different powers of the manufacturer, and the more power the manufacturer has, the simpler the contract to coordinate the chain will be. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 把CAD技术引入机械课程设计的探索

总结了近2年来在《机械设计》课程设计教学实践中引入CAD技术,引导学员在课程设计中采用计算机辅助设计技术,使学员既掌握了一般机械设计基础知识,又基本学会了计算机辅助设计这一现代设计方法。     

钢丝增强复合条带抗弹性能数值分析

为研究钢丝增强聚合物基复合条带的抗弹性能,基于冲击动力学理论分析其抗弹机理,再借助ANSYS/LS-DYNA软件和LS-PrePost前后处理器模拟有无增强钢丝2种工况下,条带对7.62 mm弹体的冲击响应。分析表明：条带的弹性模量、剪切模量和面密度会影响其能量吸收性能,能量吸收量随三者的增大而增大;由于聚合物基体的正交各向异性,应力云图显示出扁平椭圆状是合理的;在聚合物基复合条带中嵌入增强钢丝对条带整体的抗弹性能有积极的影响,但嵌入过量的钢丝会导致重量和成本的增加,因此需要对合理的钢丝配比率作进一步研究。研究结果可为钢丝增强聚合物基复合条带在野战防护结构中的应用提供参考。

对采用履带划水推进方式的两栖装甲车辆的水上操纵性进行了分析,没出了极高其水上操纵性的基本途径,并对操纵性的评价指标进行了探讨,对提高操纵性,加强试验研究提出了建议.     

战略探源

战略问题日趋重要。为了进一步探讨战略的本质,本文试图从语源角度分析战略的内涵。西方语源中战略体现了其整体系统、生命种子等特征,其构形也蕴含着强壮、张力、建构、秩序和践行、实现等含义,而这涉及了战略的哲学。在汉字系统中,与战略相关的“略”、“寿”(畴和筹)、“周”(稠)均与土地耕种及其谋划相联系,反映了农耕社会的整体观和未雨绸缪意识。中西语源中的战略思想丰富并深化了现有的战略概念。     

Weighted vertex packing problem for specially structured geometric graphs

Consider a set of vertices V = {1, 2,…, n} placed on a two-dimensional Euclidean plane R² with each vertex attached a nonnegative weight w: V → R. For a given constant d>0, the geometric graph G = (V, E) is defined to have edge set E = {(i, j): d_ij ⩽ d} with d_ij being the Euclidean distance between vertices i and j. The geometric vertex packing (GVP) problem, which is often called the independent set problem, is defined as selecting the set of pairwise nonadjacent vertices with maximum total weight. We limit our attention to the special case that no vertex is within a distance βd of any other vertices where 0 ⩽ β < 1. A special value of β (= 1/2) is referred to frequently because of its correspondence to a manufacturing problem in circuit board testing. In this article we show that the weighted vertex packing problem for the specially structured geometric graph (SGVP) defined with the above restriction is NP-complete even for the case that all vertex weights are unity and for any β. Polynomial procedures have been designed for generating cuts to obtain tight LP upper bounds for the SGVP. Two heuristics with bounded worst-case performance are applied to the LP solution to produce a feasible solution and a lower bound. We then use a branch-and-bound procedure to solve the problem to optimality. Computational results on large-scale SGVP problems will be discussed. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
