Dynamic Winner-Take-All Conflict

This paper empirically investigates the importance of financial and political variables in determining debt rescheduling probabilities in Turkey for 1955–2000. The problem of sovereign debt default and rescheduling has been the subject of substantial academic research during the last two decades. There has been criticism of models of developing countries’ indebtedness and rescheduling that rely solely on some economic or financial predictors related to country debt, the foreign exchange sector or the domestic economic situation. Using probit analysis, this paper indicates that financial variables are important determinants of rescheduling probabilities. However, political variables are not significant in our models.     

U.S. Troops and Foreign Economic Growth

By way of an evolutionary game model we show that mediation in international conflicts might be harmful to the conflicting parties. In fact, under anarchy both parties can be better off than under an international regime if mediation reduces the parties’ reactive capacities (i.e. their abilites to respond to an aggression). This result is applied to issues currently discussed in the literature on international relations such as the role of the United Nations as a mediator of international conflicts.     

Defence Enterprise Surveys On Market Outlets: The Case Of Slovenia

This article presents the results of an empirical survey of Slovenian defence enterprises focusing on three segmented geographic market outlets: the domestic market, the other European Union (EU-26) markets and the global markets. In the enterprise surveys are included around two-thirds of the domestic defence enterprises of different sizes and activities. The Slovenian defence enterprises by production, supply-in-return, subcontracting, middleman and trader activities in the defence marketing chains are mostly specializing towards the businesses on the domestic market. Rare enterprises are specialized exclusively for activities on the EU-26 markets and the global markets.     

Thomas Fitzpatrick – Gunsmith of Dublin

Knowledge of early Dublin gunmakers is limited, mainly due to the destruction of records during the Civil War of the 1920s. This article focuses on an early pair of rifled turn-off pistols by Thomas Fitzpatrick and presents new research recently carried out by the author on this little-known gunmaker.

Evaluating methods for the reliability of a large 2‐dimensional rectangular k‐within‐consecutive‐(r,s)‐out‐of‐(m,n):F system

A 2‐dimensional rectangular k‐within‐consecutive‐(r, s)‐out‐of‐(m, n):F system consists of m × n components, and fails if and only if k or more components fail in an r × s submatrix. This system can be treated as a reliability model for TFT liquid crystal displays, wireless communication networks, etc. Although an effective method has been developed for evaluating the exact system reliability of small or medium‐sized systems, that method needs extremely high computing time and memory capacity when applied to larger systems. Therefore, developing upper and lower bounds and accurate approximations for system reliability is useful for large systems. In this paper, first, we propose new upper and lower bounds for the reliability of a 2‐dimensional rectangular k‐within‐consecutive‐(r, s)‐out‐of‐(m, n):F system. Secondly, we propose two limit theorems for that system. With these theorems we can obtain accurate approximations for system reliabilities when the system is large and component reliabilities are close to one. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 22SiMn2TiB装甲钢异种焊接接头超声波探伤探头设计

用常规探头对22SiMn2TiB装甲钢与TWE312异种钢焊接接头进行缺陷检测,杂波和伪缺陷波导致灵敏度、信噪比不高。用扫描电镜观察到这种异种钢焊接接头主要为奥氏体+铁素体组织,其中奥氏体是主体组织。根据焊缝的组织特点,设计出了2.5P13×13K1.5型专用探头。在预制缺陷的焊接接头上进行了验证试验,结果表明2.5P13×13K1.5探头对接头内部的缺陷具有较高的检出率。     

军用车载电源异常电压监测模块的研制

对由蓄电池供电的某军用特种车辆供电系统的异常电源信号进行监测模块的设计,为系统控制终端进行分析及故障排除提供参考数据。监测模块采用C8051F040单片机为控制核心,通过对"系统DC26V"和"系统DC5V"电源进行监测,记录超出正常范围的异常电压值,并可以通过RS-485通信方式将异常数据上传到控制终端。该模块具有体积小,采集速度快,记录时间标记和运行稳定的特点。通过实际应用证明可以准确地记录各种在运行过程中电源异常的情况。     

基于dsPIC30F5015的无刷直流电机控制系统

根据管道探测机器人电机驱动控制要求和当前数字控制技术水平状况,提出了以dsPIC30F5015芯片为核心的无刷直流电机数字信号控制系统,并介绍了该控制器的系统功能、电机控制PWM模块工作原理、传感器译码、外围电路设计以及驱动控制系统的软件开发。实践证明该驱动控制系统安全可靠。     

Signature based analysis of m‐Consecutive‐k‐out‐of‐n: F systems with exchangeable components

In this article, we study reliability properties of m‐consecutive‐k‐out‐of‐n: F systems with exchangeable components. We deduce exact formulae and recurrence relations for the signature of the system. Closed form expressions for the survival function and the lifetime distribution as a mixture of the distribution of order statistics are established as well. These representations facilitate the computation of several reliability characteristics of the system for a given exchangeable joint distribution or survival function. Finally, we provide signature‐based stochastic ordering results for the system's lifetime and investigate the IFR preservation property under the formulation of m‐consecutive‐k‐out‐of‐n: F systems. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
