加强社会主义文化建设的几点思考

加强社会主义文化建设,必须坚持社会主义核心价值体系;必须立足中国特色社会主义实践,全方位体现社会主义的价值追求,符合中国特色社会主义建设的实际,坚持“以人为本”;必须在实践中不断创新,实现继承和创新的统一,坚持“三贴近”和“双百”方针。     

The Dao of foreign policy: Understanding China’s dual strategy in the South China Sea

In the South China Sea, China neither implements power-maximizing policy nor engages a peaceful approach. Instead, China implements both coercion and cooperation in pursuing its strategic interest in the disputed area. How can we explain China’s paradoxical behavior? This article claims that the best way to explain China’s policy in the South China Sea is to understand the character of dualism in China’s strategic culture. Following constructivist theory that stresses culture, this article argues that Chinese duality approach in the South China Sea is rooted in the philosophy of Daoism. The symbol of Yin-Yang depicts Chinese assertive as well as cooperative behavior in dealing with the South China Sea dispute. Although from a normative perspective Daoism recognizes pacifism and non-violent behavior, the most important feature of Daoism is the assumption that reality consists of two opposing elements that are mutually embedded.     

Fighter aircraft acquisition in Croatia: failure of policy delivery

The possibility for Croatia to obtain new fighter aircraft is not new, as this option has been publicly debated for at least a decade. A sudden decision to advance the acquisition of a limited number of fighter aircraft was made in 2017 with an international tendering process concluding in early 2018. Through open source material, this paper will look at this procurement process by examining the relationship between policy and strategic thinking on the one side, and policy delivery on the other, and evaluate why the tendering process failed in achieving envisaged results. The paper concludes that the problems facing the Croatian aircraft acquisition process stem from at least two interrelated factors: firstly, at the operational level, the failure of the procurement was the direct result of mismanaged tendering procedures linked to the wider public administration reform process; and secondly, at the strategic level, inherently complex civil-military relations and related cultural aspects which have not been adequately addressed over the past decades. The result was a failure to deliver on government policy, something which this paper argues will need to be addressed over the medium to long term.     

论校歌与校园文化

“绿色”的文化意味

词汇是最易受时代与社会感染的因素,颜色词语往往蕴藏着强烈的感情色彩。“绿色”的文化意味从古代汉语到现代汉语发生了很大变化。古代汉语“绿”有青春、美丽、卑贱的意味,而现代汉语的“绿色”词汇包含了畅通、节能、天然、环保和健康的意味。在全球性“绿色”文化缺失的背景下,这种文化意味的转变正是人们对“绿色”文化的理性呼唤。。     

新疆高校多元文化语境下外语教学中的中国文化教学现状实证研究

外语教学不仅仅是对学生外语知识和技能的传授,同时也是对学生自主学习能力和跨文化交际能力的培养,这种跨文化交际能力是双向的,意味着不仅仅是吸纳国外的文化,同时还担当着本国先进文化的传播。本文选取了新疆高校具有代表性的综合性大学———石河子大学作为调查对象,通过测试、问卷调查和访谈考察了大学生中国文化词汇、书面英语表达能力及师生对英语教学中中国文化所持的态度,证实了多元文化语境下新疆高校大学英语教学中同样存在中国文化缺失现状和中国文化缺失对英语学习和跨文化交际造成的不利影响。并根据测试结果分析对外语教学提出建议。     

提升音乐文化在高校校园文化建设中的作用

校园文化以其互动性、渗透性、传承性作为特征,凸显出其在反映学校综合实力、推动大学生德育教育、激发其创造精神并规范其行为等方面的重要功能。健康、和谐的校园文化是构建和谐社会的重要组成部分,而发展健康、和谐的文化是建设校园文化的灵魂所在。音乐教育承载着重要的文化功能,是推动校园文化建设的原动力,更是校园文化建设不可或缺的重要组成部分。     

试论英语地名在英语教与学中的重要性

地名蕴含着丰富的文化信息,是语言的文化词汇的一部分。地名几乎总是有理据的,所以它们记录了一部分民族文化。很多词典轻视地名,外语教学也常常忽视地名。本文论述名词、专有名词、地名、地名与普通词语之间的联系、英美两国的地名来源,说明地名在英语教与学中的重要性,以引起师生注意。     

THE CHANGING MEANING OF SMALL ARMS IN NUER SOCIETY

The economic value, social status and symbolic meaning of small arms are particular and temporal in nature. This is demonstra ted through a historical account of the dynamics of cultural change and adaptation in Nuer society. Specifically, the article shows how attitudes towards small arms shif ted over time from a positive valuation of guns as prestigious objects, to ambivalence between the need for protection and the experience of increased local lawlessness and violence. More generally, it demonstrates how weapon-rela ted activities can only be fully understood when seen against a specific cultural background. Even if the display, use and circulation of weapons appear to carry cross-cultural references, typically as expressions of power and masculine identity, the meaning is always primarily local. Therefore, strategies to reduce the destructive impact of small arms through demand side programs, based on voluntary participation, can only be carried out successfully if built on an in-depth understanding of a particular cultural context.
