Risk,War, and the Dangers of Soldier Identity

The profession of arms is distinct from other professions for many reasons. One reason which is not so obvious is that, unlike members of other professions, soldiers may go their entire careers preparing for a day that never arrives. All things considered, we should think this to be a very good thing. For soldiers, however, this can feel somewhat odd, since there is a natural desire to want to feel useful and to see one’s role and purpose find realization. Accordingly, the common soldier is forced to adopt a rather paradoxical mindset, one of longing for peace, and therefore for uselessness, while at the same time longing to be useful, which would entail that there be a war. This latter desire to be useful and to vindicate one’s identity as a soldier can sometimes take on an unhealthy life of its own. The pull of wanting too strongly to live up to a warrior identity, I argue, can sometimes skew a soldier’s ability to assess risk rationally. This article will therefore investigate how a soldier’s concept of self influences his or her overall capacity to evaluate risk in war and when such influence might become morally problematic.     

新疆少数民族大学生学习心理状况调查研究

本研究以"中国大学生学习性投入调查问卷"(NSSE-China)为工具,对新疆8所高校的少数民族大学生的学习动力、学业成就期望、专业兴趣、学习快乐感、学习意义感进行了实证研究,总体揭示其在学习心理状况上的表现情况。结果显示:新疆少数民族大学生的学习动力并不乐观;学业成就期望有待提高;专业兴趣并不理想;学习快乐感和意义感有待进一步改善。本研究针对以上问题对进一步改善新疆少数民族大学生学习心理状况提出具体建议。     

我国青少年亲社会行为培养研究

青少年亲社会行为培养关涉一个民族、国家的未来和兴衰.青少年亲社会行为的深层次价值体现,乃是青少年对民族、国家的认同意识、忧患意识和担当意识的自觉与觉醒.对于青少年的亲社会行为培养,主要以坚持社会主义核心价值观为思想前提;以因循传统“知行合一”理论为培养的基本原则;以面向现实人生为培养的关键和落脚点,共同构建青少年的亲社会行为培养模式。     

边疆多民族地区大学生主流文化认同的调查与分析——以新疆高校为例

公本文从社会主义核心价值体系认同、执政党认同、理论认同、民族认同四个维度对大学生主流文化认同进行调查分析,结果显示,大学生主流文化认同总体是积极向上的,但也存在不平衡性和差异,主流文化认同面临严峻挑战。加强对大学生群体主流文化认同教育,引导大学生树立正确的国家观、民族观、文化观,对边疆多民族地区未来发展和国家安全十分重要。

Friend or foe? The Cyprus Police Force and the EOKA insurgency

This article examines the ambiguous role played by the Cyprus Police Force during the Greek Cypriot insurgency against Britain between 1955 and 1959. A multiethnic force policing a multiethnic society, the CPF struggled to fulfill its duties. Greek Cypriot officers became ineffective as sympathy for, or fear of insurgents undermined their ability to function. Some collaborated, others resigned. Those who stayed became targets of their own people. Turkish Cypriot officers, recruited in greater numbers to compensate for a reduction in Greek Cypriot officers, worked to enforce the law, but exacerbated intercommunal relations in doing so. In spite of the peculiar conditions present in Cyprus, the case has valuable implications for contemporary policymakers on the vulnerabilities inherent in the use of local police forces to restore law and order in ethnically divided societies.     

Majority rule,minority issues: The Macedonian question in the Dekemvriana

This article examines the role of the Macedonian Question in the 1944 December Uprising (Dekemvriana) in Greece. While the Dekemvriana is commonly portrayed in right–left terminology in the historiography, this article argues that part of the reason for the left’s failure was their inability to manage the Macedonian ethnic component of the struggle, either within their armed forces or in their relationship with Yugoslavia. As such, this article integrates the early phases of the Greek Civil War into the broader literature on minorities in civil conflict, while simultaneously exposing some of the myths about Macedonian involvement that result from its contemporary political ramifications.

一种云计算中的身份认证协议

针对当前在云计算中身份认证机制个人信息容易泄漏的问题,提出了一种云计算中的身份认证协议。协议的安全性是基于离散对数的难解问题。协议模型由用户、云服务提供者和注册实体等三个实体组成;通过先属性注册协议、后身份认证协议两个步骤完成整个认证过程;从用户伪装身份和云服务提供者盗取身份信息两个角度,对协议的安全性进行了分析;通过与云计算中基于公钥生成器的协议进行对比以及实验仿真,证明了该协议在对承诺的注册和认证时间上的优越性。     

家园合作中父母参与程度的现状调查——基于新疆兵团S市幼儿园的问卷调查

利用“幼儿园家庭教养方式调查研究”基础数据,本研究从家长参与家园合作活动的频率、内容和方式三个维度考察家园合作中父母的参与程度问题,研究表明新疆兵团s市家长参与频率非常低,参与家园合作活动的内容单一,呈现出不平等的单向交流方式。同时,研究认为幼儿园性质是影响家园合作中父母参与程度的重要因素,而家长族别、文化程度和家庭户籍状况与家长参与程度无显著相关。最后,研究分析了家园合作工作中幼儿园与家长之间的关系,提出公办幼儿园和民办幼儿园促进家告参与的教师理念与策略,使家长参与更具实效性。
