A Study of the Influence of Cultural Knowledge on Foreign Language Reading

This paper describes the psycholinguistic process of reading, and discusses the influence of cultural knowledge on foreign language reading in the light of schema theory. The results of a cultural knowledge test show that the ability to acquire and utilize this kind of knowledge is an important part of reading ability, various ways should be made use of to enrich it, and the cultural knowledge level of our students needs to be raised still further.
