| Abstract: | This paper discusses the classification, resolution and rhetorical function of ambiguity in English. It indicates that contextual analysis and language knowledge are both important to the resolution of ambiguities. It also shows that a better understanding of rhetorical function of ambiguities contributes to the good use and resolution of ambiguities. |
